Alpine’s Track Weapon Spotted: A110 R Ultime Tests in Spain
Alpine’s most extreme road-legal creation has been caught testing in Spain.
The A110 R Ultime isn’t just another special edition with fancy badges and marketing fluff.
The Ultimate Alpine Arrives
A prototype of the ultra-exclusive A110 R Ultime has broken cover, revealing the most track-focused Alpine ever built. The test mule spotted in Spain shows significant aerodynamic enhancements over the already capable A110 R.
Front-end aggression comes courtesy of enlarged canards and a more pronounced splitter. The familiar hood with its extractor vent remains, but aero surfaces along the sides have grown substantially.
The rear view is dominated by a top-mounted wing with gurney flap and a substantial diffuser framing the central exhaust. Lightweight wing mirrors complete the track-ready aesthetic.
Numbers That Matter
The A110 R Ultime packs a revised 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 340 hp – a significant bump over the standard A110 R.
Power routes through a tweaked 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox designed to handle the increased output.
Weight is the real story here. Alpine reportedly targeted a featherweight 1040 kg curb weight, though some sources claim the production version might land closer to 1147 kg.
Either way, this thing’s power-to-weight ratio will be exceptional.
Exclusivity Has Its Price
Alpine will build exactly 110 examples of the A110 R Ultime. Each will command a staggering €250,000 – more than double the price of a standard A110 R.
What does that quarter-million euros buy you?
- Track-optimized aerodynamics with significantly increased downforce
- Bespoke engine tuning with specialized fuel requirements
- Launch control system delivering 3.8-second 0-100 km/h sprints
- Exclusivity that guarantees you’ll never see another at your local cars and coffee
Engineering Over Marketing
Alpine hasn’t built this car to pad sales figures or satisfy bean counters. The A110 R Ultime represents the pinnacle of what’s possible when engineers are given free rein with the A110 platform.
The car made its official debut at the Paris Motor Show, but these spy shots give us our first glimpse of the development process behind Alpine’s most focused machine.
For those lucky 110 buyers, they’re not just purchasing a car – they’re buying the culmination of Alpine’s engineering prowess in its purest form.
