Audi's playing musical chairs with its lineup again. The A6 and S6 wagons are dead – long live the A7 and S7 Avant.
February 18, 2025. Mark your calendars. That's when Audi pulls the sheet off its new long-roof performers.
The Last of the Gas-Burners
Audi's new nomenclature isn't rocket science: even numbers for EVs, odd numbers for combustion engines. Simple.
The A7 Avant represents Audi's swan song for internal combustion. After 2026, the four rings go fully electric.
These wagons aren't just rebadged A6s. They're built on the new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture.
Spy shots reveal a wide single-frame grille flanked by slim LED headlamps. The rear sports L-shaped LED taillights connected by a light bar.
The S7 Avant adds quad exhaust tips. Because nothing says "get out of the left lane" like four pipes filling your rearview mirror.
What's Under the Hood?
Power comes from a twin-turbo V6 with mild-hybrid assistance. The current S7 Sportback makes 444 horsepower, and the new wagon should match or exceed that figure.
Expect the S7 Avant to deliver:
- 0-60 mph times around 4.5 seconds
- Quattro all-wheel drive with sport differential
- Adaptive air suspension for balancing comfort and corner-carving
The standard A7 Avant will likely share the current A7 Sportback's 335 HP turbocharged V6 producing 369 lb-ft of torque.
The RS7 Avant Is Coming
Don't worry, power junkies. An RS7 Avant will follow.
It'll pack more aggressive styling, beefier brakes, and a suspension tuned by people who understand the Nürburgring isn't just a tourist attraction.
Audi's interior game remains strong with the S7 featuring sport seats wrapped in Valcona leather, carbon twill inlays, and the optional Audi Sport Express Red Stitch Package.
The Black Optic Package adds 21-inch wheels and high-gloss black exterior accents for those who find chrome too… cheerful.
These wagons represent the end of an era. The last hurrah of Audi's gas-powered performance estates before electricity takes over.
Wagons with attitude. Long live the long roof.
